Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon is making progress, but he is not expected to be ready for Game 3 of the Stars’ playoff series against Anaheim Monday night at American Airlines Center.
Dillon, who has missed the first two games of the series with a lower body injury, skated prior to the team’s practice in Frisco Sunday morning.
“He skated this morning for just a short period of time. Better,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. “He may have a chance to skate with the team tomorrow. We’re advancing, but he won’t be ready to play.”
The Stars practiced for about 45 minutes in Frisco this morning. Despite being down 0-2 in the series, spirits are still high with the series shifting to Dallas, where they have played well over the second part of the season.
“We’re staying loose out there. We’re having fun. We had a good practice,” said Stars captain Jamie Benn. “We’re excited for tomorrow. We’ve got a chance to win a hockey game and make the series 2-1. I thought we’ve played some pretty good hockey, just not good enough. We’ve got to go that extra step and find a way to win.”
This will be the Stars’ first home playoff game since May 2008, and the team is expecting a revved up building.
“I think players really embrace it. Fans have been tremendous down the stretch,” Ruff said. “I think what really typified it was the Modano night where you end up coming back and winning a game like that on home ice and you feel that electricity in the building. I think again tomorrow, our fans are getting a playoff treat and our players are getting an opportunity to play in front of them, and I think as much as our players got to see the energy in Anaheim’s building, we’ll get to embrace that energy in our building.”
