Dan Ellis in Goal Tonight, Will Play Entire Game as Stars Play Florida in San Antonio

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

Dan Ellis will get the start in goal and he’s expected to go the distance when the Dallas Stars play the Florida Panthers in San Antonio tonight.

Stars coach Lindy Ruff said the plan is for goaltenders to start playing entire games now in the preseason.

“I want to get the goalies some good work,” Ruff said. “The remainder of the workload will be on Lehts (Kari Lehtonen) and Danny to give them enough work to get ready.”

The Stars will roll out a young lineup for tonight’s game. Among the players who could be in the lineup are Radek Faksa, Matej Stransky, Curtis McKenzie, Patrik Nemeth and Jyrki Jokipakka.

“We want to see how well our youth is going to do,” Ruff said. “We’ve got a lot of it in the lineup. We’ve got a pretty young defense and we’re young up front. It’s a good opportunity for a lot of young players to show what they have.”

Ruff said he expects to go with a more veteran lineup for Saturday’s preseason game in St. Louis.

Notes: Glennie out 4-6 weeks

*Stars GM Jim Nill said forward Scott Glennie is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a knee injury. Glennie was injured during a collision at the Dallas net late in the third period of Wednesday’s preseason game versus Florida.

*Nill said the Stars will evaluate the camp roster after tonight’s game in San Antonio, and that there could be some roster moves this weekend.
