The Dallas Stars Foundation didn’t have to gamble to walk away with $325,000 from its 16th annual Casino Night. The Stars Foundation simply relied on the generosity of more than 650 fans, sponsors and guests in attendance at the Foundation’s largest fundraiser in February. For the first time, the Foundation’s annual event sold out within weeks before the event at Park Place Lexus & Jaguar in Plano.
This year the Foundation set new records on February 25 by raising the most money and the most people in attendance at this year’s Casino Night. The success of this event has allowed the Foundation to donate more than $4 million to local charities through its granting process since its inception in 1998, helping a countless number of people across North Texas.
Those who attended the Mardi-Gras themed party were treated to a night of casino-style gambling, with their favorite Dallas Stars players serving as guest dealers at poker, blackjack, roulette and craps tables. Chips were substituted with raffle tickets, and at the end of the night, raffle winners were treated to a variety of prizes such as a game-used stick by Antoine Roussel, and an Omni Hotel Spa gift card.
Guests also got to bid on some fantastic silent auction items including autographed memorabilia, a trip to Hawaii and a custom Dallas Stars poker table. In the live auction, emceed by the dynamic duo also known as Ralph & Razor, a two-game road trip with the team and a Dave & Buster’s day with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin brought in some serious bids for the Dallas Stars Foundation.
Partygoers that weren’t interested in trying their luck at the tables could opt to take in the live music from Hale Baskin and Her Jazz Addiction, or smoke a freshly hand-rolled cigar. There was also a Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Tasting and Cajun style buffet provided Cool River Café.
Other than playing poker with Lindy Ruff or hitting the photo booth with Jason Demers, another big hit for attendees was the chance to win a gorgeous karat diamond from J. Patrick Diamonds, Inc. at the Champagne Bar, which sold out in the first 20 minutes. One lucky winner went home with a sparkling diamond, but the other guests didn’t leave empty handed. Everyone walked away with a great gift bag, including a portable phone charger from Ranger Solutions and a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey.
The success of this evening will allow the Foundation to carry on their programs, provide scholarships, build playgrounds and allow them to issue financial grants which will be distributed to non-profit organizations across North Texas, with a focus on youth hockey, youth engagement, and health and education.
With the great success of this year’s fundraiser, the Foundation now looks to grow it even more in the following years.
“We could not have done this without the tremendous support of our sponsors, donors and fans. Thank you for helping us make this Casino Night the most successful one yet. The money raised will help make a difference to the children and families served by our Foundation and partner agencies’ programs,” said Dallas Stars Foundation Executive Director, Jessica Dunn.
Thank you from the Dallas Stars Foundation, and we hope to see you next year!
