Frisco, TX – Dallas Stars President & CEO Jim Lites announced today that Bob Bassen has been hired as Director of the Alumni Association and Business Development.
Bassen, who has called Dallas home for much of the last decade, has spearheaded the development of the Dallas Stars Alumni Association for the last two years. Now in an official capacity, Bassen and the Alumni Association will unite former Stars to help implement new community and business initiatives, including providing support at the grassroots level for youth hockey programs in the North Texas region.
“We’re thrilled that Bob Bassen has officially joined the team,” said Dallas Stars President & CEO Jim Lites. “A thriving alumni association will be a tremendous benefit for former Dallas Stars, and will also serve an important role in helping the continuing growth of hockey in Texas. Bob’s abilities will be put to great use by all of us at the Dallas Stars.”
“The development of this association is something I feel very passionate about,” said Bassen. “I look forward to working with former players, our front office, and business operations to help our continuing efforts to maintain our status as a first-class organization.”
Prior to his role with the Stars, Bassen spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Utah Grizzlies of the American Hockey League (AHL). As the club’s assistant coach, he helped guide the team to playoff berths in two of his three seasons there, including two-consecutive winning seasons.
A former NHL player, Bassen played in 765 games, collecting 88 goals, 144 assists, totaling 232 points in 15 seasons. He also skated three seasons for the Dallas Stars between 1995-1998 collecting eight goals and 12 assists in 117 games with the club
