Right wing Austin Smith is back with the Texas Stars. The 24-year-old Dallas native was assigned to Texas from the Idaho Steelheads Thursday.
Smith will provide some insurance for the Stars, who could be without forward Cody Eakin tonight. Eakin took a high stick to mouth in the third period of last night’s game in Houston and is questionable for tonight’s game against Oklahoma City at Cedar Park Center. Texas has been without Scott Glennie (hand) the past seven games as well.
Smith, Dallas’ fifth round pick (128th overall) in 2007, has 23 points (16 goals, 7 assists) and a plus-12 rating in 20 games with Idaho this season. He’s played one game with Texas, and did not register any points.
