The winner of the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award was Jim Nill of the Dallas Stars on Wednesday.

Awarded annually since the 2009-10 season to the manager who excelled most in his role during the regular season, the award was later named after former Toronto Maple Leafs GM and Hall of Famer Gregory. After the end of the 2nd round of the playoffs, the general managers of the clubs themselves, together with the NHL management and journalists, vote on it.

The other two finalists were Don Sweeney of the Boston Bruins and Bill Zito of the Florida Panthers.

The Stars, 47-21-14, scored 108 points in the regular season, their second-highest total since 2015-16's 109 points, before advancing to the Western Conference Finals for the second time in four years. In that, they already lost to the future champions Vegas Golden Knights 2:4 for matches.

Nill took over as Dallas' general manager in April 2013, finishing third in the 2016 and 2020 GM voting. In the second case, the Stars even reached the finals of the Stanley Cup, but lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games.
