The San Jose Sharks announced today that center Joe Thornton has been selected as the Seagate Technology “Sharks Player of the Month” for the month of November. The award will be presented to him prior to tonight’s game against the Buffalo Sabres.
Thornton led the team with 16 points (7-9=16) during the month, contributing on 48.4% of the Sharks goals for November. He recorded a point in nine out of the 12 games and posted a +5 plus/minus rating.
Thornton has previously won the award four times: Dec. 2005, April 2006, Dec. 2006 and Feb. 2007.
Established in the 1996-97 season, the Seagate Technology “Sharks Player of the Month” program honors the Sharks player(s) who have contributed most to the team’s success each month. Seagate Technology will donate $2,500 on behalf of the player(s) to The Sharks Foundation. In addition, one player will be selected as the Seagate Technology “Sharks Player of the Year” at the conclusion of the season and Seagate Technology will donate $5,000 on his behalf to The Sharks Foundation. Seagate Technology has donated more than $260,000 to The Sharks Foundation since the program's inception.
