SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has reassigned forward Dwight Helminen and defenseman Jason Demers to the Worcester Sharks, the team’s top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
Demers has played in 44 games for San Jose, posting 20 points (4-16=20) and 12 penalty minutes. With Worcester, he posted ten points (2-8=10) in 16 games.
The six-foot-one, 195-pound native of Dorval, Quebec was originally selected by San Jose in the seventh round (186th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Helminen appeared in the four games prior to the Olympic break for San Jose posting one goal. He has posted 19 points (10-9=19) and 14 penalty minutes in 56 games with Worcester.
He was signed as a free agent by San Jose on July 16, 2009. He was originally an eighth round selection (244th overall) by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
