SAN JOSE — San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has re-signed Group II restricted free agent center Marcel Goc to a one-year deal. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In 2007-08, Goc, 24, appeared in 51 games and posted eight points (five goals, three assists). Goc played in his 200th National Hockey League game on March 3 vs. Montreal.
He also played in the 2008 World Championships for Germany, where he appeared in three games and had four shots on net.
Goc was one of five Sharks players to participate in the 2006 Winter Olympics, in Turin, Italy. While playing for Team Germany, Goc tallied one goal in five games.
In 210 NHL games, Goc has 43 points (18 goals, 25 assists) and 58 penalty minutes. He has taken a total of 279 shots on net.
The six-foot, 205-pound native of Calw, Germany was selected by San Jose in the first round (20th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
