With the beginning of the 2006-07 National Hockey League season less than a month away, it’s time for Sharks fans to start planning which games they will be attending at the Shark Tank this season. But for those not able to experience all the magic inside HP Pavilion, don’t fret! It will be hard to turn on a TV and not see Team Teal, as the Sharks have announced that 78 of their 82 games will be broadcast live on television.
Of the 78 televised games, 70 of the contests will be aired on FSN, six on Versus (currently OLN) and two on NBC.
FSN Bay Area will begin their coverage of Sharks hockey on opening night, Thursday, October 5, when the Sharks host the St. Louis Blues at HP Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. PST. In total, 36 Sharks home games and 34 road contests will be televised on FSN this season, including 8 on FSN Plus (five home games and three away games). In addition, 30 contests will be broadcast in high definition. Of the 30 games televised in HD, 25 will be home contests and five will be on the road. The HD schedule begins with the season opener against St. Louis on October 5 at 7:30 p.m. at HP Pavilion.
Randy Hahn, who recently signed a three-year contract extension, will again serve as the Sharks play-by-play announcer for FSN Bay Area marking his fourteenth full season with the club. The experienced broadcaster was honored for the third time with a Northern California Emmy as part of the best on-camera team during the 2005-06 season. Hahn will be joined in the booth this season by former Shark Marty McSorley. For more on McSorley’s return to San Jose, click here
