Pavelski is Brocade 'Sharks Player of the Month'

SAN JOSE — The San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) announced today that forward Joe Pavelski has been selected as the Brocade (@BRCDcomm) “Sharks Player of the Month” for December.

Pavelski finished the month with 12 points (team-leading seven goals, five assists) and was a +2 in 14 games during the month. In his last 10 games, he has notched 10 points (seven goals, three assists) and on Jan. 1, was selected to the 2014 United States men’s Olympic hockey team.

He is tied for the team lead in faceoff percentage (54.8%), second in points (37), assists (21) and goals (16) while ranking 6th amongst all NHL forwards in blocked shots (40).

This is the third time Pavelski has received the honors.

Established in the 1996-97 season, the Brocade “Sharks Player of the Month” program honors the Sharks player(s) who have contributed most to the team’s success each month. Brocade will donate $2,500 on behalf of the player(s) to the Sharks Foundation. In addition, one player will be selected as the Brocade “Sharks Player of the Year” at the conclusion of the season and Brocade will donate $5,000 on his behalf to The Sharks Foundation. The Sharks Player of the Month and Year award program has donated more than $300,000 to the Sharks Foundation since the program's inception.
