SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the trade of Kyle McLaren to the Philadelphia Flyers for a sixth round selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft has been nullified by the Flyers due to McLaren not passing his physical.
McLaren suffered a hand injury in December while playing for the Worcester Sharks, San Jose’s top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
“Kyle has been very professional about his situation this season,” said Wilson. “From the beginning of the year, we made a commitment to Kyle to find an opportunity for him to play in the National Hockey League. Unfortunately, this deal didn’t work out but Kyle will return to the organization and work towards the full recovery of his hand.
McLaren has spent the 2008-09 season with the Worcester Sharks, where he posted six points (six assists), 17 penalty minutes and a +2 rating in 17 games.
In 302 career games with San Jose, he posted 83 points (12 goals, 71 assists) with 301 penalty minutes and a +19 rating.
