Participants from week two of the Summer Skills Development Camp were treated to another surprise Tuesday when Sharks center Joe Thornton showed up in their locker room to sign autographs and take pictures. Devin Setoguchi made an appearance last Wednesday for the participants in week one of the summer camp.
Thornton made his way around the room to sign the jerseys of the excited summer campers before they went out for some drills with Coach Sommer from the Worcester Sharks. Thornton then made his way up to Stanley’s Sports Bar to meet the older age group to give them autographs while they were eating lunch.
The Summer Skills Development Camp is designed for young hockey players to enhance and improve hockey fundamentals, and focuses on skating, passing, shooting and tactical play. The development camps are split into two one-week sessions and are coached by Worcester Sharks Head Coach Roy Sommer and Worcester Sharks Assistant Coach David Cunniff.
