The 2007-08 season marks the 10th Anniversary of Hockey Fights Cancer. The NHL and NHLPA will commemorate this milestone with League and team programming throughout the season to help increase funds and awareness for Hockey Fights Cancer.
The first program, Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Month, commenced October 4 and will include involvement from all 30 Clubs, players, management and fans.
Throughout the month of October, each NHL Club will host a Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night to help raise money and awareness for this important cause. San Jose will host two nights: Thursday, October 18 against Detroit and Saturday, October 20 against Nashville.
During those games, the following initiatives will occur:
Pink Hockey Fights Cancer Decals on Helmets – In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, all players will wear a pink Hockey Fights Cancer decal on the back left area of their helmet during all regular-season games in the month of October.
Pink Hockey Fights Cancer Ties – Members of the hockey family will wear commemorative pink Hockey Fights Cancer ties at regular-season games in October. NHL coaches will wear ties at team HFC Awareness nights. The ties will be on-sale at www.shop.nhl.com with a portion of the proceeds benefiting HFC.
