(Goal, 3 Shots, +1)

20:00 It's over in Denver and the Sharks are on to Round Two and win the series from Colorado 4-2 with a 5-2 win in Game 6.  Sharks outshoot the Avs 11-3 in the third and 34-18 for the game.  The turning point, oddly enough, was the Yip goal for Colorado as from that point on San Jose steam-rolled the Avs and didn't look back.  After what the Sharks were handed in this series, with the bad bounces and bad luck this group showed their strength and resiliancy, fought through adversity and has moved on.

19:29 Murray takes any doubt away and puts another in the empty net from the neutral zone for his second career Stanley Cup playoff goal.
SJ EN GOAL: Murray (1)  A: Thornton (3), Mitchell (1) at 19:29

19:08 Setoguchi puts one in the empty net and may have put away the series.  The puck was tied up along the boards in the left corner of the Sharks zone, when Setoguchi came away with it; he raced to center and flipped the puck into the empty net.
SJ EN GOAL: Setoguchi (3)  A: Unassisted at 19:08

18:14 Joe Sacco uses his timeout with a neutral zone face-off.  Sacco is trying to rest his top offensive weapons to keep them on the ice and will try to get the puck in deep to pull Anderson.

17:05 Tremendous backcheck by Boyle, racing back to break up the stretch pass for Stewart and prevents a possible breakaway.

16:09 Malhotra coming up the left side leading a two on one with Heatley, fires a wrist shot that is gloved and held by Anderson.

14:48 McLellan seems to be shortening the bench down the stretch as he sends a line of Thornton, Marleau and Nichol out for a defensive zone face-off.

14:05 The crowd and excitement level has really elevated here with the fans sensing what is at stake.

14:01 Sharks still flying around the Colorado zone and Marleau with two quality shots stopped by Anderson.  First was a one-time between the circles that Anderson used the blocker on and more recently was a wrister gloved and held on to for a draw by the Avalanche netminder.

13:00 Shots are 6-1 San Jose in the third and the only Colorado shot was the goal by Yip.

9:02 Sharks reclaim the lead and again it's the Big Pavelski or Captain America if you choose.  In a two on one with Setoguchi, Pavelski skated the puck to the inside of the left circle and fired a wrist shot top shelf, stick-side to put the Sharks back in front 3-2.  Anderson may have been thrown off just a bit as the puck seemed to stick momentarily on Pavelski.  Also, it seems the Yip goal really got the Sharks energized and have dominated since that point as the Sharks have scored twice in 1:29.
SJ GOAL: Pavelski 2(5)  A: Clowe 2(7) at 9:02

7:33 Boyle ties the game with with a rocket from the high slot!  Boyle grabbed the puck along the right boards and pulled it along the blueline toward the high slot and fired the slapper by Anderson using a screen in front from Clowe.  This came ten seconds after Heatley hit the outside of the right post from with a wrister from the right circle.
SJ GOAL: Boyle (2)  A: Heatley (4), Pavelski (3) at 7:33

4:51 Avs take the lead and it's their top line that gives it to them.  Yip puts home a centering pass from Stastny at the top of the crease short side.  Stastny was along the right boards pressured by Huskins and found Yip driving to the net from the high slot.  Huge goal for the Avs who are playing with desperation.
COL GOAL: Yip (2)  A: Stastny (4), Galiardi (2) at 4:51

4:27 Good shift for the Thornton, Marleau and Heatley line as Anderson had to make two saves with the Gold Medalists swarming aroud the Colorado net.

2:05 Terrific diving block by Huskins after the puck took a quirky bounce toward the slot and the Sharks defenseman slid in front of a Tucker shot.

1:10 McLellan has put Heatley back up with Thornton and Marleau for the third.

0:00 Pavelski's line will start the third as the Sharks look for a a burst to start the third period against the Duchene line.

20:00 Second period ends tied at one with the Avs getting the equalizer in the second twenty minutes.  Sharks wind up outshooting the Avs 13-8 in the period and have a 23-15 edge for the game; Blake leads San Jose with four while Stewart and Svatos have three each to lead Colorado.  San Jose has won 23 of the 40 draws for the night as Pavelski has won six of his eight.  Colorado really picked up their physical play in the second period, outhitting the Sharks 13-5 for the period and are now ahead for the night in that category 19-16.

19:58 One last rush for the Sharks is blockered away by Anderson as a three on two with a blast from the high slot by Malhotra is knocked away.

19:42 Marleau is out of the box and the Sharks kill off another penalty as Nabby got nice work from Vlasic and Blake.

19:18 Beautiful glove save by Nabokov on Liles as Nabby slid from right to left to show off the outstretched trapper on the slapshot.

17:42 Power play ends early as Marleau is called for interference on Foote in the right corner of the Colorado zone.  Four on four for the next fifty seconds and then the Avs will have a brief power play.

16:43 Two big saves by Anderson denying Marleau then the rebound chance from Thornton.

16:32 Sharks will get a power play as Liles is called for holding Murray along the boards right wing side in the Avs zone.

16:08 Colorado seems to have gained some momentum from the Svatos goal and are generating some chances and some cycles in the Sharks zone.

14:27 Pace really picking up over the last few minutes and some end to end rushes by both sides.  After a whistle against th Avs for offsides, Stewart runs at Nichol and the two mix it up for a few seconds before it's broken up; both are handed minors for roughing so we will skate four on four for the next two minutes.

9:45 Referees stop play as Tucker trying to get position in front of the net gets his stick stuck in the right pad and skate of Nabokov.

6:14 The Avs tie it up after an impressive rush by Svatos up the left side.  Svatos raced the puck down the left side and skated from left to right across the top of the crease and showed patience as he waited for an opening from Nabokov and slipped the puck by him along the ice glove side.  Svatos took advantage of some miscommunication from Thornton and Murray for his second career Stanley Cup playoff goal.
COL GOAL: Svatos (1)  A: Cumiskey (1), Foote (1) at 6:14

5:50 Stewart fired a wrist shot off the post glove side after Duchene won the draw.

4:30 San Jose had what looked to be a good chance, however Mitchell's one-timer fizzled when his stick snapped in half.  Marleau along the right boards fed Mitchell in the high slight for the attempt.

2:36 Anderson with a big save as the Sharks with their best chance thus far in the second after a takeaway by Pavelski in the Colorado zone.

1:35 Mitchell fires the Sharks first shot of the second after winning a draw in his own end and racing up the ice.

0:00 Pavelski's line will open up the second period against Duchene's line for the Avs.

20:00 Sharks at the end of the first period lead the Avs 1-0 as San Jose did exactly what they wanted to do in the first, strike first and take the crowd out of it.  Sharks outshot Colorado 10-7 in the first period led by two each from Blake and Setoguchi, while Stewart had two shots for the Avs.  San Jose gets credit for outhitting Colorado 11-6, paced ny Nichol's three; the Sharks played a very physical, but smart opening twenty minutes.  After Colorado won five of the first eight face-offs, the Sharks won seven of the last 11 led by Pavelski who won all three of his.

18:57 Mitchell streaking up the left for a two on one tried to feed it across for Thornton but a nice poke check from Cumiskey knocks the puck away.

16:16 Big open ice hit by Nichol as he upended Galiardi with the Avalanche on the breakout from the San Jose zone.  Sharks are outhitting the Avs 8-4.

14:05 Svatos exits the box as the Sharks fired two shots on net during the man advantage, both by Blake.

13:05 Colorado really aggressive and doing a nice job on the penalty kill.

12:05 Sharks will get their first power play as Svatos is called for high-sicking Couture in the neutral zone.  San Jose nearly scored on the delayed penalty as a blast by Heatley from the high slot trickled toward the net and almost slipped passed Anderson.

11:00 Terrific chance for the Sharks is steered aside by Anderson with Setoguchi driving the net from the right side.

10:10 Nabokov with another key save off a drive from the left wing by Stastny as Colorado had a three on two with Blake and Vlasic back.

7:50 Sharks are outshooting the Avs 5-1, but Colorado has won five of the eight draws.

6:36 Huskins comes back on the ice and the Sharks with an effective first penalty kill with good work from Murray and Vlasic.

5:57 Nabokov with a big save on a redirection in front by Tucker as Nabby kicked the puck out with his left pad.

4:36 Sharks are called for the game's first penalty as Huskins is called for hooking Tucker giving the Avs a power play.

2:36 Nabokov withstands an early test from the Avs and two terrific chances are turned aside by Nabby.  Porter aggressive in the offensive zone for Colorado was the catalyst.

0:47 Sharks waste no time to take the crowd out of it and score in the game's first minute and it's Pavelski out-hustiling and out-muscing Cumiskey.  Pavelski working behind the net for a loose puck skates from right to left and slips a wrap-around shot in from his knees by a surprised Anderson.  San Jose has now scored the last seven goals in this series.
SJ GOAL: Pavelski (4)  A: Clowe (6), Blake (1) at 0:47

0:10 Both teams look to set a physical tone right off the opening draw.

0:00 Pavelski's line will start for the Sharks with Blake and Vlasic on the blueline, while the Avs will try getting things started with Duchene's line paired with Foote and Cumiskey on defense.

0:00 Sharks go with the same line-up from Game 5, while a change for Colorado from Game 5 as Brett Clark will get his first action of the series; he is in for Wilson and will be paired with Liles on defense.
