Heatley was alone walking down the slot and slipped a backhand passed Quick after the LA netminder mad an initial save on a Clowe shot from the left circle. 3:22 Doughty called for Interference behind the LA net will give the Sharks the first power play of the series.
5:22 The Kings kill the penalty despite the Sharks controlling the puck in the LA zone for most of the man advantage.
7:01 Mayers is called for cross-checking on a cycle by the Sharks fourth line deep in the LA zone. Nichol took a questionable hit and Mayers appeared to be retaliating.

10:00 Kings have stepped up their game over the last few minutes.
10:23 Terrific rush from Couture racing around Doughty down the left wing, avoiding a hip check (Rob Blake would not be proud) and slipping one behind Quick to give the Sharks back the lead at 2-1. Think he will be reminding his good buddy of that with a text later? He probably has done that to Doughty a few times while growing up.

14:10 Brilliant play from Thornton leads to a chance for Setoguchi, but Quick makes a sprawling save. The Sharks captain with a back-check and takeaway in the Sharks zone, then a perfect lead up the boards hitting Setoguchi in stride down the left wing side.
14:30 One of the loudest cheers of the night is when they show Metallica front man James Hetfield up on the video board sitting on the glass with his son, both wearing Sharks jerseys.
16:20 Williams picks up a loose puck on the right side of the goalmouth and jams in a backhand to tie the game. The puck took an awkward bounce behind the Sharks net right to Williams off of a skate and Niemi lost sight of the puck which opened up a spot for Williams to put it in and tie the score at 2.

19:01 Since the Sharks took 18 of the first 21 shots, the Kings have taken 15 of the last 23.
19:48 Niemi with a big save on Doughty through a screen as he kicked out the right leg to turn it aside.
20:00 Period comes to an end with the score tied at two. The Kings have found their game and weathered the early Sharks onslaught to hang in this one and it will be anybody's game in the third. Shots are 23-19 San Jose after two periods.

20:00 Third period ends with no scoring as the Sharks had a couple good chances on the power play. San Jose finished the period strong and they hope to carry it over into overtime.
Shots were 8-7 Sharks in the period after it took nearly half the period for San Jose to fire one on net. We head to an extra session tied at two.

Final shots are 45-35 San Jose as the Sharks outshot the Kings 14-9 in the extra period. Sharks take Game One after losing five of their previous six series openers.
