— The San Jose Sharks announced today that defenseman Dan Boyle
has been selected as the Brocade “Sharks Player of the Month” for the month of January. The award will be presented to Boyle prior to tonight’s game against the Dallas Stars.
Boyle led the team in assists (11), points (13) and plus/minus (+11) in 14 games. He had back-to-back three point games on Jan. 7 vs. Washington and Jan. 10 at Minnesota and had points in nine of the 14 games played in January.
Established in the 1996-97 season, the Brocade “Sharks Player of the Month” program honors the Sharks player(s) who have contributed most to the team’s success each month. Brocade will donate $2,500 on behalf of the player(s) to The Sharks Foundation. In addition, one player will be selected as the Brocade “Sharks Player of the Year” at the conclusion of the season and Brocade will donate $5,000 on his behalf to The Sharks Foundation. The Sharks Player of the Month and Year award program has donated more than $300,000 to The Sharks Foundation since the program's inception.
