The 24-year-old native of Lively, Ontario was signed by the Sharks as a free agent on June 26, 2010 after setting a career-high with 19 goals, 27 assists and 46 points with Worcester during the 2009-10 season. Last year, Desjardins played alongside John McCarthy and Dan DaSilva on the team’s “Crazed Rats” line, which took home the Worcester Sharks’ Unsung Heroes Award.

Desjardins made his National Hockey League debut on Jan. 3, 2010 at Vancouver and played three games with the big club before being reassigned to Worcester. He was recalled on March 7 and scored his first NHL goal (and point) in San Jose’s 6-3 win over Calgary on March 23.
