OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the club has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with centre David Legwand.
Legwand, 33, split the 2013-14 season between the Nashville Predators and the Detroit Red Wings, playing in 83 regular season games. Between the two teams, the 6-2, 205-pound centre scored 14 goals and added 37 assists for 51 points, while recording 61 penalty minutes. He also played in each of the Red Wings five post-season contests.
A Detroit native, Legwand played the first 15 seasons of his National Hockey League career with Nashville before a March 5 trade send him to the Red Wings. In 977 career NHL games, he has scored 214 goals and added 363 assists for 577 points, while recording 505 penalty minutes. He has scored 13 goals and 28 points in 52 career playoff games.
Selected in the first round (second overall) in the 1998 NHL Draft by the Predators, he is Nashville’s franchise leader in games played, goals, assists and points.
