Senators centre Mika Zibanejad talked about his developing chemistry with linemates Milan Michalek and newcomer Alex Chiasson on Wednesday. The trio scored a goal and look very dangerous in their first competitive action against the New York Islanders on Monday afternoon. Here's what he had to say...
On playing Toronto:
I think every game we play against them is a bit of a different game and I like to play those games.
On his chemistry with his linemates:
We're getting there slowly but I think it'll be good to get some time with them and find the real chemistry.
On the line's potential:
I think my two wingers can skate really well and I can use them a lot. I think we want to be a hard line to play against with a lot of speed and size as well. We've just got to work hard on the chemistry and the plays will be there.
On his history with Michalek:
We (he and Michalek) played together last season so it's a little bit of re-starting out coming into training camp again but I'm starting to feel it more every day to recognize where he is out on the ice. You start feeling better and hopefully it just gets better from here.
On if it's a "make-or-break" season for him:
I don't know what the right expression is for it but I'm just trying to take it a day at a time right now. It's a different situation than I've had before so I've just got to embrace it and have fun with it.
On if nerves come into play:
I think it would be wrong not to be nervous but at the same time you can't let that take over and bring you down. You have to be nervous and, at the same time, excited. Like I said, you embrace it and the situation and the challenge and work hard. Hopefully it goes your way.
