Karlsson named to 2016 NHL All-Star Game
by Craig Medaglia / Ottawa SenatorsThe NHL released their Divisional All-Star rosters on Wednesday and captain Erik Karlsson received the news that he'll be representing the Sens in Nashville.

Senators head coach Dave Cameron was asked about Karlsson being named an All-Star during his media availability and responded with a sarcastic: "That's a shocker, isn't it?". Karlsson currently sits 4th in NHL scoring with 42 points (9 goals, 33 assists) in 40 games and leads all defenseman in points, assists and TOI/game (28:27).

This will be Karlsson's third trip to All-Star Weekend after attending in both 2011 in Carolina and 2012 in Ottawa where he was captain Daniel Alfredsson's first selection in the All-Star Draft which you can relive below.
The 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game will also come with a new format which will see the All-Stars take part in a three-game tournament, played in a 3-on-3 format, and featuring teams representing each NHL division. All-Star Weekend will be hosted in Nashville and takes place from January 30th-31st.
