10:30 PM: We caught up with Senators forward Mark Stone ahead of this afternoon's game with the Bruins. Here's what he had to say...
On afternoon games:
They're obviously different games. You don't have that same type of morning skate and same routine to prepare. It's been a tough stretch for us with those games but we're just trying to work through those things.
On facing the Bruins:
We've had some pretty tough games against them in the past and it's no different this year. Our first game this season was a tough, rivalry game. Lots of hitting, lots of bumps and a lot of traffic around both nets. We know what type of team they are. They're a hard-nosed team so for us it's not about matching them but just trying to stick to what we do best.
On his takeaway prowess:
It's more of a talent that I learned with me not being the most fluent skater. Now that I've gotten a little quicker in my step I've been able get a few more extra takeaways recently.
5:30 PM: (Friday) It's an afternoon affair as the Ottawa Senators face-off against the Bruins in Boston tomorrow. Puck drop is set for 1 p.m. and you can catch the game on TSN5 and RDS.
The Sens are coming off of a 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night in Ottawa. Goals from Bobby Ryan (wow), Mark Stone and Jared Cowen provided the offence for the Sens while Craig Anderson made 31 stops in the loss. The Sens currently sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 11-12-5.
The Bruins enter tomorrow night's game only 4 points up on the Sens in the standings and are coming off of a 3-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night. Reilly Smith and Torey Krug each scored for the Bruins while Tuukka Rask made 18 saves in defeat.
During their first meeting this season on November 1st in Boston, a pair of goals by Matt Fraser helped lead the Bruins past the Sens 4-2.
Some lineup notes to pass along for the Sens:
- Robin Lehner will get the start in goal.
- Jared Cowen missed Friday's morning skate after blocking a shot but should be in the lineup against the Bruins.
- Clarke MacArthur should also be returning to the lineup.
- Marc Methot practiced on Friday but is currently listed as a "game time decision".
- Chris Neil is listed as "week-to-week" and will miss his first game of the season.
I'll have plenty of updates to follow including, but not limited to, lineup changes, players' thoughts, Sens TV videos, Instagram goodness and more.
