With an assist from the Sens Foundation, the University of Ottawa’s Kids and Shape program will continue to score with a group of needy youngsters in the capital.
The Foundation made a donation of $15,000 Thursday to the Rideau-Vanier Local Action Committee in support of the valuable program, which offers underprivileged children who face poverty and exclusion an equal opportunity to enjoy success in the classroom – and beyond.
"Getting involved with a project that will enable more than 1,000 underprivileged children to participate in physical activities throughout the school year is a great fit for the Sens Foundation," said Danielle Robinson, the Foundation's director of community and corporate relations, who made the cheque presentation earlier today to Rideau-Vanier Local Action Committee partners at Le Petit Prince Catholic Elementary School in Vanier.
The Foundation funding will help expand the program’s reach, while being directly applied to physical activity programming and sports activities for underprivileged francophone students during the 2008-09 school year. Several schools in the Rideau-Vanier area will benefit from the program.
