Did you know Oprah Winfrey was at Scotiabank Place on April 10? She was. And while the Ottawa Senators were allegedly in Philadelphia getting ready for a game against the Flyers, they must have stealthily snuck back to Ottawa for a meeting with the world's most influential celebrity.
Reports of "You get a Twitter account! And you get a Twitter account..." are currently unconfirmed being heard inside the Sens dressing room, but the proof has been in the pudding. First Erik Karlsson, then Daniel Alfredsson and now, Senators owner Eugene Melnyk is tweeting away.
Here is Mr. Melnyk's first ever tweet...
As I mentioned when the captain hopped on board, the Sens are one of the better represented teams in the league — across all of pro sports for that matter — when it comes to players actively tweeting. Now they've hit a truly unique spectrum with their owner joining the service.
Of the 28 players currently on the roster, less than half are without twitter accounts. Any time over half of a group this high profile piles on to something, that's an incredibly high percentage by conventional standards. Throwing an owner in there really tips the scales.
Are the Sens the most social team in the NHL? They're certainly up there.
