Ray Emery says he is ready for the added pressure he may face in the next few weeks. While the rookie goaltender wasn't happy to see Senators No. 1 goaltender Dominik Hasek go down with an adductor muscle strain at the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, Emery is looking forward to carrying the bulk of the work in goal while Hasek recovers.

"I'm excited to play. I obviously want to play as much as I can but Dom is my buddy, I don't want to see him hurt. I had a chance to clear my head and get away a bit (during the 10-day Winter Olympic break). I'm looking forward to the stretch run."

Senators goaltending coach Ron Low was penciled in at the beginning of the season to work with the goaltenders at this time of the year. After Wednesday's practice, Low spoke about the opportunity the young goaltender has in front of him.

"Obviously he's got a big chance here, he can step up and really help the club. He's been the backup to one of the best goalies in the league, now he has the chance to take the ball and run with it. The biggest thing for Ray is he has all the basics down, now he has to make sure he moves right. It all comes down to angles. He'll get a lot of shots over the next four or five days."

Schubert returns from Turin

Back from his stint with Team Germany, defenceman Christoph Schubert spoke about his team's performance in Turin.

"It's just tough because we wanted to beat at least Italy and Switzerland and we tied them both. That's the only disappointing thing from the whole tournament I guess."

Like Schubert, his Senators teammates Zdeno Chara and Andrej Meszaros, both of Slovakia, as well as Canadians Wade Redden, Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza have also been eliminated from the Olympics.
