We have taken a look at the work Sens forward Cory Conacher has done with diabetes initiatives in the past and, for those of you who may not know, he has dedicated a fair portion of his off-season to charitable work.
Cory has spent part of his summer in Milton, Ont., working as an instructor at the Dskate Hockey camp, which is a hockey program for kids with type-1 diabetes — the same type he was diagnosed with at the age of eight. The camp is put on by both Diamedia Solutions and Medtronic — a medical technology group that Conacher works as a spokesman for — to help kids with both their hockey games and life skills as they manage the disease.
Conacher was interviewed on CBC Radio’s “All in a Day” about his own experiences and his work at the camps.
