Coach MacLean post-game - 4.22.2013

by Chris Lund / Ottawa Senators

It was a disappointing result on Monday for a game that arrived with so much anticipation as the Sens ultimately came out on the wrong end of a 3-1 decision against the Penguins.

The Penguins forced the issue with a strong forecheck and good puck movement against the Sens and, after scoring first, put Ottawa back on their heels. The Sens had trouble playing at their top speed for most of the game and couldn't generate many quality scoring chances. They looked to have some life after Patrick Wiercioch scored his fifth goal of the season, but they ultimately couldn't do enough to beat Tomas Vokoun.

Now the Sens get ready to head to Washington in what is as do-or-die a game as it gets. The Sens will need to hope the Caps do them a favour tomorrow with a win over the Jets and beat Washington on Thursday to lighten their burden this weekend.

Here's what Coach MacLean had to say after the game...
