Hockey is almost here folks, which means we can expect nice, cool weather, fallen leaves and sweaters to make their timely return into our lives.
With all of that in mind, I can hardly think of a better way to welcome this fine season back into our lives than sending some mail with a brand-spankin’ new Ottawa Senators stamp, which was unveiled today by Canada Post as part of their new NHL collection. Not sure what to mail? Here’s a pro-tip: Write mom a letter sealed with the Sens stamp so she never forgets your favourite hockey team. She’ll remember in December during a shopping trip with you in mind.
You’ll note that the commemorative stamp sports both the Sens modern and expansion logos, as a tribute to the excitement of the modern day NHL as well as the proud history from which it came. Considering hockey made its first appearance on a Canadian stamp 57 years ago on a piece that emphasized the game’s national ties with a Canadian national player, it is a fitting tribute to the bond between country and sport.
If you’re a Sens fan who has aspirations of becoming a philatelist, now is the time. You can get them at Canada Post’s online shop here.
