Bulletin: The Senators In Your Community From March 5 to March 11

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators’ year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues. The following is a look at the club’s community schedule from Friday, March 5, to Thursday, March 11.


Ottawa Senators and Canadian Blood Services Team Up For Blood Donation

Canadian Blood Services will be hosting a pre-game reception in Coliseum Rooms A and B at Scotiabank Place from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, in recognition of local blood donors and two-year-old Madison Kirk. Madison was born with a congenital heart disease and has required more than 40 blood transfusions in the first two years of her life. Madison will be joined by Canadian Blood Services chief operating officer Ian Mumford, Ottawa Senators president Cyril Leeder, her mother, Natalie Smith and her sister, Julia.

Madison and Julia will also be taking part in a ceremonial pre-game presentation prior to the Senators’ 7 p.m. home game against Toronto.

Sens Gameday Experience presented by Esso


Minor hockey teams and members of the public from across the Ottawa-Gatineau region are invited to Scotiabank Place on Saturday, March 6, to watch the Senators prepare for their home game that night against Toronto. Doors open at 10 a.m., while the team will begin practicing at 10:30 a.m. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to watch as the Senators coaching staff puts the players through their paces in an assortment of high-energy drills while providing players with the chance to work on their own individual skills. Admission is free, but fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to support the Ottawa Food Bank.

Sixth Annual Ottawa Senators Initiation FUN Days at the Bell Sensplex

The Ottawa Senators and Bell Sensplex, along with the Kanata Minor Hockey Association, will present the sixth annual Ottawa Senators Initiation FUN Days on Saturday, March 6, and Sunday, March 7, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bell Sensplex. Teams of initiation-aged players from across the Ottawa-Gatineau area will participate in on-ice scrimmages and various interactive off-ice activities throughout the weekend.

Spartacat appearances

Spartacat, the Senators’ ambassador of fun, will be at Zellers (1585 Merivale Road) from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 5. On Saturday, March 6, Sparty will be attending the Sens Gameday Experience presented by ESSO from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Scotiabank Place and the sixth annual Ottawa Senators Initiation FUN Days at the Bell Sensplex, from 11 a.m. to noon. Sparty will be back at the Bell Sensplex on Sunday, March 7, for the second day of the Ottawa Senators Initiation FUN from 11 a.m to noon. Sunday afternoon, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Sparty will be at Steve’s Your Independent Grocer (455 McNeely Ave, Carleton Place, Ont.). He will then conclude the weekend by attending the Ottawa Senators’ season seat holder appreciation event at Scotiabank Place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Seventh Annual Sens Foundation Telethon for Roger's House

The Sens Foundation, along with Rogers Sportsnet, are preparing for the seventh annual Roger's House Telethon presented by CN. The telethon will take place on Tuesday, March 16, beginning at 6:30 p.m. For further information, please visit http://www.sensfoundation.com/eng/index.cfm
