Sparty's birthday party to take place Sunday, Oct. 2
OTTAWA - Spartacat, the Ottawa Senators' mascot and ambassador of fun, is celebrating his 13th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 2, from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Saunders Farm, located in Munster, Ont. (7893 Bleeks Road).
Open free of charge to all of Sparty's Kids Club members, the birthday celebration includes cake, an autograph session, a parade with Spartacat as marshal and more. Parents and siblings of Sparty's Kids Club members will receive 2-for-1 admission to Saunders Farm as part of the festivities.
Non-Kids Club members interested in celebrating Sparty's birthday are encouraged to register on-line at www.ottawasenators.com or at Saunders Farm prior to the festivities kicking off. All 2005-06 Sparty's Kids Club members will receive a Chris Phillips Bobblehead, a Senators team photo, newsletters, exclusive special events and more.
The itinerary of Spartacat's 13th birthday at Saunders Farm is as follows:
11 a.m. - Saunders Farm opens
Noon - Spartacat autograph session and photo-op
1:30 p.m. - Birthday cake cutting
2 p.m. - Stage show
2:30 p.m. - Ghost stories by the Bonfire, featuring Max Keeping, CTV-Ottawa
3 p.m. - March of the Monsters parade
The Senators' ambassador of fun has been entertaining crowds since his first appearance on Oct. 8, 1992 - his official birthday at the Senators' inaugural home game against the Montreal Canadiens.
Since then, Sparty has travelled all over eastern Ontario and western Quebec, making countless stops to lend an eager paw at community and charity events. He has also made numerous stops throughout the United States, including visits to Wisconsin, Minnesota and Florida.
