Bulletin: Senators sign goaltender Mike Brodeur to one-year contract

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today they have signed free-agent goaltender Mike Brodeur to a one-year, two-way contract.

Brodeur, 26, split last season between the American Hockey League’s Rochester Americans and East Coast Hockey League’s Augusta Lynx. In 38 games with Rochester, Brodeur went  18-13-4 with a 2.45 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. In eight games with the Lynx, he went 2-4-1 with a 3.02 goals-against average and .919 save percentage.

The 6-2, 190-pound Calgary native was selected to the Canadian all-star team for the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic, playing the first period of a 14-11 loss to PlanetUSA on Jan. 26, 2009.

Brodeur was the Chicago Blackhawks’ seventh-round selection (211th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In five professional seasons split between the AHL and the ECHL, he has posted a record of 91-70-15 in 157 career games.

On Feb. 17, 2008, Brodeur was recalled to the NHL by Chicago for one day, but did not see any game action.
