OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today recalled centre Josh Hennessy from the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators on an emergency basis to play in tonight's game against the New York Rangers at Scotiabank Place. He replaces Mike Fisher, who suffered a knee injury against the New York Islanders on Dec. 27.
During his first recall this season, Hennessy made his NHL debut on Dec. 12 in the Senators' 3-2 win over the Red Wings in Detroit. In two games, he recorded one shot on goal and averaged 6:33 of ice time. He was returned to Binghamton on Dec. 15.
The 21-year-old native of Brockton, Mass., is third in team scoring in Binghamton with 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points. He also has 35 penalty minutes in 32 games. Hennessy leads Binghamton with three game-winning goals and as many short-handed goals.
Binghamton's next game is also tonight, when they travel to Rochester to face the Americans. The Senators are in seventh place in the AHL's East Division with 10 wins, 19 losses and three overtime losses for 23 points.
