- The Ottawa Senators Alumni raised $53,000 for the Ottawa Boys & Girls Club through their second annual charity hockey classic tournament from Nov. 8 to 11. The alumni’s community outreach continues with a game against the Leitrim Hawks Coaches on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Fred G. Barrett Arena in Gloucester.
“Our second annual charity classic tournament was a great showing of community involvement,” said Senators Alumni president Brad Marsh. “We had 28 adult hockey teams and many fans join us at the Bell Sensplex to raise $53,000 to help the Ottawa Boys & Girls Club rejuvenate Camp Smitty.”
The Senators alumni fundraising efforts brings them to the Fred G. Barrett Arena in Gloucester this Saturday to face the Leitrim Hawks Coaches. Opening ceremonies, with emcee Liam McGuire, begin at 7:30 p.m. with a special surprise presentation. Tickets are $10 with all proceeds going to the Leitrim Minor Hockey Association.
The Ottawa Senators Alumni was established in 1992. The former NHL hockey players have raised more than $2.2 million and have given many hours of their time to local charity events.
