Bulletin: Mayor O'Brien kicks off Operation Puck Drop

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators will launch Operation Puck Drop with Ottawa Mayor Larry O’Brien, on Monday, Sept. 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at City Hall.


Designed to promote the 2008-09 regular season opener on Oct. 4 in Stockholm, Sweden and the home opener at Scotiabank Place on Saturday, Oct. 11, against the Detroit Red Wings, Operation Puck Drop will feature a red thunderbird with a large puck dropping through it. The vehicle and puck will be moved throughout the Ottawa-Gatineau region from Sept. 29 to Oct. 11, visiting one or two locations each day.

Mayor O’Brien will be making a short speech before raising a Senators flag in front of City Hall on Sept. 29. The Sens event team will be handing prizes alongside the car, while Spartacat, the Senators’ ambassador of fun, will also be present.

Operation Puck Drop will be visiting the following locations:

Monday, Sept. 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at City Hall (110 Laurier Ave. W)

Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Pharma Plus (1190 Wellington St.)

Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Farm Boy (1500 Bank St.) and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at McDonald’s (77 Bank St.)

Thursday, Oct. 2, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Byward Market

Friday, Oct. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Scotiabank (118 Sparks St.) and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Metcalfe Fair (Metcalfe, Ont.)

Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Farm Boy (499 Terry Fox Dr.) and from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Local Heroes (1760 St. Laurent Blvd.)

Sunday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sport Chek Barrhaven (Riocan Marketplace, Unit #2, 125 Riocan Ave.) and from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Local Heroes (1400 Clyde Ave.)

Monday, Oct. 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Sport Chek Merivale (1642 Merivale Rd.) and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Scotiabank Merivale (1649 Merivale Rd.)

Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Place d’Orleans Park & Ride and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Kanata Scotiabank (8111 Campeau Dr.)

Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Gatineau (locations to be announced)

Thursday, Oct. 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sparks St.

Friday, Oct. 10, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. in Gatineau (location to be announced) and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Boston Pizza (61 de la Gappe, Gatineau)

Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sport Chek (Kanata Centrum, 785 Kanata Ave.) and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Scotiabank Place
