is already looking forward to his next grand milestone.
With 992 career National Hockey League points already in the bank, the Ottawa Senators captain is a good bet to hit the 1,000 plateau sometime in the first month of the 2010-11 season. Alfredsson has put that number into his statistical profile once already, having played his 1,000th NHL game back on April 6.
"I feel very fortunate to be where I am at this point in my career," Alfredsson said in a Friday Phone Call interview with ottawasenators.com. "Going forward, I'm creeping up on 1,000 points ... and I should be able to reach that this year."
Being that he averages almost a point a game, Alfredsson should be able to hit that milestone in the first 10 or 12 games of the coming season. He'll also be a healthy player heading into the campaign, having fully recovered from off-season surgery to repair a sports hernia injury.
"The rehab has gone well," he said. "I've been skating for the last 2-1/2 to three weeks and everything has been positive. I started skating a little bit earlier than I normally would, just to try it out and ease into it a little bit. So I should be ready to go for (training) camp and I'm looking forward to it."For more of the Friday Phone Call with Alfredsson, click here.
