It appears that Daniel Alfredsson will be back to play another year in the NHL come 2013-14 as he has expressed his desire to play for the Sens next season. As things stand, the captain is an unrestricted free agent.
Here’s what Sens GM Bryan Murray had to say on the situation...
We were informed late this morning by Daniel’s agent, JP Barry, that Daniel has made a decision and is committed to play next year for the Senators.
We now will begin the process of negotiating a contract, which we hope to have completed in the near future.
Sens TV is in New York with team management ahead of the 2013 Entry Draft and got an exclusive one-on-one with the GM who filled in the situation as it stands with more details.
While it isn’t a done deal yet, this is certainly an encouraging first step towards Alfie’s return to the team in the fall.
