Some of the premier hockey talent in Western New York will take to the ice this Sunday, as the 22nd annual Super Sunday High School Hockey Championships returns to HSBC Arena beginning at 12 Noon. This is the first Super Sunday to be held at the home of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres since 2004.
Super Sunday XXII will feature four league championship games, all with defending champions:
-- Explorer League: Hutch Tech (2005 champion) vs. McKinley, 12 Noon -- Southtowns: Orchard Park (2005 champion) vs. West Seneca East, 2 p.m. -- WNY Small Schools: Cheektowaga (2005 champion) vs. Depew, 4 p.m. -- WNY Large Schools: Jamestown vs. Niagara-Wheatfield (2005 champion), 6 p.m.
Tickets for Super Sunday are $5 in advance, and $7 at the door.
The annual Super Sunday Breakfast is set for Saturday, February 18 at the Hearthstone Manor (333 Dick Rd., Depew) at 9 a.m. Dave Smith, head coach of the Canisius College men's hockey team, will be the featured speaker.
