The Buffalo Sabres and MSG (MSG Network and FSN New York) today announced the team’s television schedule for the 2007-08 regular season. Radio coverage of all 82 regular season Sabres games and all six preseason games will be broadcast by Sports Radio WGR AM 550.
This season, Sabres fans will be able to watch all 82 of the team’s regular season games. MSG will broadcast 71 regular season games, and the Sabres will appear seven times nationally on Versus and four on NBC -- including the Winter Classic that will be played outdoors at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Tuesday, January 1 at 1 p.m. The 33 home games that will air on MSG will be broadcast in High Definition in the Buffalo market only on Time Warner Cable.
MSG’s coverage begins Friday, October 5 with Buffalo’s season opener at home against the New York Islanders at 7:30 p.m. There will be a special season-opening 30 minute pre-game show beginning at 7 p.m. that night, featuring a recap of the off-season and complete training camp analysis.
The Sabres are also scheduled to appear four times on NBC, including three as part of NBC’s Game of the Week coverage. Using their new flexible scheduling format, NBC will be able to select from up to four games on Sunday afternoons. Thirteen days prior to the scheduled games (on Mondays), NBC, in conjunction with the NHL, will select one of those games as the "Game of the Week" to be broadcast during the NBC window. The other games will remain available to the teams' regional carrier but will not be televised during NBC's broadcast window.
Rick Jeanneret and Jim Lorentz return to call the action for all MSG telecasts. Currently the longest-tenured broadcaster in hockey, the 2007-08 season marks Jeanneret's 36th year with the Sabres. Lorentz has been part of the Sabres broadcast crew since the 1992-93 season. Jeanneret and Lorentz can also be heard exclusively on Sports Radio WGR AM 550 when the Sabres appear on national TV coverage. Matt Gould is the executive producer of Buffalo Sabres coverage on MSG. Joe Pinter is the producer, and Eric Grossman is the director.
Once again this season, The Lexus Shootout can be seen following every Sabres telecast on MSG. Host Kevin Sylvester will be joined by Rob Ray and Mike Robitaille for complete post-game analysis and player interviews. (There won’t be a post-game show on Nov. 16.)
