Every Kid Deserves a Shot, presented by Rogers, is an Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) initiative making a real, lasting impact by uniting the community and removing barriers to sport. It helps build a future where every kid can be inspired, reach their full potential and feel a sense of belonging—both on and off the ice.

Off-Ice Initiatives

Education: Equip children with the skills and knowledge to make informed decisions for their own health and well-being.
Nutrition: Provide kids with the essential nutrients they need to ensure healthy growth and development.
Safe Spaces: Allow kids to grow, learn and explore in an environment where their physical and emotional well-being is protected.
Belonging: Held kids build self-esteem and develop strong social bonds for their emotional and cognitive growth.
Ball Hockey: Support physical fitness and establish active lifestyles to promote the overall health and wellness of kids.
Mental Health: Nurture the well-being of kids by providing coping skills and ensuring a brighter, more resilient future.

On-Ice Initiatives

Entry Level: Provide greater accessibility to the sport of hockey for kids of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
Girls Hockey: Continue breaking down gender barriers and creating equitable pathways for girls in sports.
Minor Hockey: Deliver unforgettable experiences and create lifelong memories focused on the joy of playing hockey.
Leadership: Focuses on building leadership skills in kids through sport, giving them the confidence and ability to lead both on and off the ice.
Inclusive Hockey: Foster physical fitness, social integration and personal empowerment for persons with disabilities.

Kids In Oil Country

Our Transformational Partners

Through community partnerships with KidSport, Sport Central, Free Play for Kids and the Hockey Alberta Foundation, we’re making sport more accessible for kids by covering registration fees, providing essential equipment, funding programs that get kids on the ice and supporting inclusive environments and educational programs.

Our Community Ambassadors

Oilers alumni Chris Joseph, Ben Scrivens and Ladi Smid serve as community ambassadors for Every Kid Deserves a Shot, alongside Danielle Serdachny—the initiative’s first female hockey ambassador. They work to support grassroots hockey programs and help inspire kids across Oil Country.
