Wings to honor Osgood's 400th

by Rick Bowness / Detroit Red Wings
DETROIT -- In recognition of his becoming the 10th goalie in NHL history to win 400 games, the Red Wings will honor veteran goalie Chris Osgood prior to their February 13 home game versus the Boston Bruins (12:30 p.m. EST – NBC & 97.1 The Ticket). As part of Sunday’s tribute, a special video montage, featuring highlights from throughout the venerable puck stopper’s lengthy career is set to precede a center-ice ceremony during which Osgood’s most recent accomplishment will be commended.

In addition to obtaining a free Chris Osgood action-pose decal (11” x 17”) compliments of Fathead LLC, the first 10,000 fans in attendance at Sunday’s almost-sold-out match versus Boston will receive an Upper Deck Original Six trading card set featuring past/present members of both the Red Wings and Bruins. Sunday’s limited-edition set will include cards featuring current Detroit players Henrik Zetterberg and Brad Stuart as well as Hall of Fame center Sid Abel. Bruins players featured in the set include All-Star defenseman Zdeno Chara, high-scoring winger Nathan Horton, and legendary blue-liner Bobby Orr.

NOTE: Originally scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., Sunday’s puck drop has been moved up to 12:30 p.m. in order to accommodate NBC Sports’ broadcast of the proceedings.

WINGS’ SELLOUT STREAK CONTINUES: Tonight’s game vs. Nashville is the 10th consecutive sellout for the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena, a streak that began on Dec. 19 vs. Dallas. Detroit’s sellout streak is expected to reach 11 games on Sunday afternoon vs. Boston as only a limited number of single seats remain available for this Original Six matchup.

Tickets are still available for the Red Wings’ final two home games of the month – a February 22 tilt with the San Jose Sharks and a showdown with the NHL Pacific Division-leading Dallas Stars two nights later (Thursday, February 24). Both contests have a start time of 7:30 p.m. Tickets to all remaining 2010-11 Red Wings home games can be purchased at the Joe Louis Arena Box Office (313-396-7575) as well as at all TicketMaster locations, including Detroit’s Hockeytown Café and Troy’s Hockeytown Authentics.
