-- The Red Wings have agreed to terms with veteran goalie Joey MacDonald
on a new two-year contract.
MacDonald appeared in 15 games for Detroit last season, posting a 5-5-3 record with a career-best 2.58 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. He also earned his second career shutout with a 37-save performance in a 2-0 win at Columbus in March.
A backup to both Jimmy Howard
in 2010-11, MacDonald made 74 saves on 76 shots (.974 SV%) in six relief appearances for the Red Wings. He also played in 20 games for the Grand Rapids Griffins, the WIngs' AHL affiliate last season, finishing with a 10-9-1 record, a 2.78 GAA, and .894 save percentage.
