TSN is reporting that forward Jiri Hudler is expected to return to the Red Wings next season after playing in Russia this season.

Hudler's agent, former NHL defenseman Petr Svoboda, will likely announce as early as Friday that his client is coming back to North America after one season in the Russian Kontinental Hockey League.

Hudler played with Moscow Dynamo, scoring 19 goals and 35 assists. When Dynamo folded, he was free to return to Detroit.

Hudler, 26, still has a two-year deal with the Red Wings that will pay him $2.875 million per season. He is not eligible to join Detroit during this spring's playoffs because he was not on the club's roster prior to the March trade deadline.

In parts of five seasons with the Red Wings, Hudler has compiled 52 goals and 75 assists in 255 NHL games. In 51 playoff games, he has nine goals and 19 assists, including five goals and nine assists in the Wings' 2008 Stanley Cup champion campaign. Managing Editor Bill Roose contributed to this report.
