Pearce recalled from Grand Rapids

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today announced that goaltender Jordan Pearce has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.  Pearce, 25, is currently in his fourth season with the Griffins.  He was originally signed by Detroit as a free agent on April 10, 2009, and inked a two-year contract extension on July 7, 2011.  In 17 games with Grand Rapids this season, he has posted a 3-7-1 record, 3.53 GAA and .874 save percentage.  The Anchorage, Alaska, native notched his lone shutout of the season on November 11, 2011, making 29 saves in an 8-0 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Currently in possession of a 44-24-3 record, the Red Wings will take on the San Jose Sharks (35-25-10) tomorrow night at HP Pavilion (10:30 p.m. ET – FOX Sports Detroit & 97.1 The Ticket). Detroit’s next home game is scheduled for Monday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m. versus Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.
