DETROIT -- Red Wings forward Marian Hossa is featured on the latest cover of Sports Illustrated, which hits newsstands today. The October 13 regional cover will be available throughout Michigan and Canada.
Hossa is the subject of a feature story in the magazine titled Hello, Hockeytown…. Marian Hossa Comes to Detroit to Win the Stanley Cup.
The Red Wings signed Hossa, 29, to a one year deal this past summer. He was a first round draft pick of the Ottawa Senators in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. The 10-year veteran has scored 299 goals and added 349 assists for 648 points in 701 career NHL games for the Ottawa Senators, Atlanta Thrashers and Pittsburgh Penguins. He reached the 100 point mark (43-57-100) in 2006-07 with Atlanta. Hossa scored 30 or more goals in six straight seasons from 2000-01 through 2006-07, and topped the 40 goal plateau twice (45 in 2002-03 with Ottawa and 43 in 2006-07 with Atlanta). He finished third in NHL postseason scoring in 2007-08 with Pittsburgh (12 goals, 14 assists - 26 points).
