Detroit signs Mrazek to one-year extension

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today signed goaltender Petr Mrazek to a one-year contract extension for the 2015-16 season. In accordance with club policy, additional details will not be disclosed.

Mrazek, 22, was second in the AHL with a 2.10 goals-against average and third in the league with a 0.924 save percentage during the 2013-14 season with Grand Rapids. In 32 appearances with the Griffins last season, Mrazek posted a 22-9-1 record with three shutouts and was named to the AHL Second All-Star Team for his efforts. The 6-foot-1, 184-pound goaltender saw action in nine games with Detroit last year, going 2-4-0 with a 1.74 goals against average and 0.927 save percentage. A native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, Mrazek helped the Griffins to a Calder Cup championship in 2013, sporting a 23-16-2 record, a 2.33 goals against average, a 0.916 save percentage and four shutouts. Mrazek was drafted by the Red Wings in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
