Brunnstrom recalled from Grand Rapids

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today announced that 26-year-old forward Fabian Brunnstrom has been recalled from Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL). Brunnstrom has appeared in four games for the Red Wings (0G-1A-1P) and two games for the Griffins (1G-1A-2P) thus far on the 2011-12 campaign, his first with the organization. 

Detroit has also announced that defenseman Brendan Smith has been reassigned to the Griffins. The 22-year-old blue-liner has skated in three games for Detroit (0G-2A-2P) and 11 games for Grand Rapids (0G-5A-5P) this season.

The Red Wings (12-7-1) will next face the Bruins (13-7-0) in Boston this coming Friday, November 25 in the NHL’s inaugural Thanksgiving Showdown. This match will air live on NBC beginning at 1:00 p.m. Detroit’s next home game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 26 at 7:00 p.m. versus the Nashville Predators.
