DETROIT – Fans coming downtown for Red Wings’ preseason games this Friday and Sunday should be aware of a construction project being performed by the Michigan Department of Transportation that could traffic delays getting to Joe Louis Arena.
MDOT will be making necessary pavement repairs on southbound M-10 (Lodge Freeway) approaching the exits to JLA. Detour signs will be posted to direct traffic away from the problem area. Fans who usually use southbound Lodge to get to games will be asked to follow the posted detour to northbound I-75 to southbound I-375 and exit Jefferson Avenue.
There shouldn't be any problems getting to JLA for Friday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, as full closure will not be in place until 9 p.m. EDT. Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins will be impacted.
Fans should also know that their commutes following this weekend’s games will not be affected by the southbound Lodge construction.
