Sather Comments on Trade Deadline Moves

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather spoke with the media shortly after today's 3:00 PM ET NHL Trade Deadline.

On the events of the day ...
"We had a couple of other deals, but when we traded Cross, it kind of put those to rest. I didn't want to give up too many guys."

"We had some request for a few of our depth guys, but we weren't going to trade them. I really didn't want to trade Dvorak until this deal came up."

On Anson Carter ...
"He has great hands. He's a very intelligent and bright guy. He's flying back to Edmonton today and is going to meet us in Ottawa tomorrow."

"They (Edmonton) have liked Dvorak for a long time. He fits into their mold a little bit better."

"You can't shake things up too much, but I don't think you can pass on these kinds of guys. I think we got one of the best forwards out there today. Maybe the best forward. We'll see how it works out."

On Ales Pisa ...
"He's a good player who hits hard. He's very steady."

On Lawrence Nycholat ...
"He's a good defenseman. All of our guys (scouts) liked the kid. He's aggressive, smart, skates well, takes the body."
