Classroom Presented by Kumon: The main focus of today’s classroom session was hydration. Players learned the different signs of hydration and dehydration. Players were also taught how much water they should be drinking a day and the effect of not being hydrated as an athlete.
: The session started off with players learning different stretches specifically for necks and backs. Players ran through drills that helped them practice quick feet and agility. Players did different variations of hurdles such as in and out, 2 feet hops, side to side and transitioning around the hurdles.On Ice AM Sessions
: The main focus of the morning’s session was stick handling. Players participated in drills that emphasized the importance of stick handling with your head up. Players also learned about defensive tactics and player safety for yourself and other players. Goalies practiced what they should do when the puck is behind the net.On Ice PM Sessions
: New York Rangers player Cam Talbot joined players for their afternoon sessions. Players practiced passing during the afternoon sessions. Coaches taught the proper techniques of forehand, backhand, and saucer passing. Players also participated in drills that focused on odd man situations and passing to the open teammates. Goalies practiced puck handling in the net and around the corners.Off Ice Training
: Coaches emphasized the techniques of passing to players in the off ice session. They focused on sending and receiving passes while also stressing the importance of accuracy and timing of passes.
