Rangers Trade Defenseman Alexei Vasiliev to Nashville

New York Rangers President and General Manager, Glen Sather, announced today that the club has traded defenseman, Alexei Vasiliev, to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a conditional draft choice in 2001.
Vasiliev, 23, appeared in 75 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, registering 10 goals and 28 assists for 38 points, along with 120 penalty minutes. In addition, he made his NHL debut with New York on April 5 vs. Montreal. In post-season play, Vasiliev notched three goals and one assist for four points, along with two penalty minutes in 15 playoff contests with the Wolf Pack.
The 6-1, 195-pounder collected 18 goals and 47 assists for 65 points, along with 44 penalty minutes in 150 career contests with Hartford. A native of Yarosavl, Russia, Vasiliev was originally selected by the Rangers with their fourth choice, 110th overall, in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
